Appointments in paediatric clinics!
I assume (that like adult consultations) children with CAH are not being seen in clinic for routine appointments at the moment? It is difficult enough for adults with CAH to have a telephone appointment with their consultant, as any routine bloods, BP or scans that should have taken place were cancelled and there is therefore not a great deal that can be discussed, although with adults waiting another few months for these tests, it is not usually a real problem. Children however grow so quickly and need doses of medication changed more frequently, so these tests are important, as CAH control can be lost so easily.
Of course, I know that keeping yourself and your child safe has to be a priority, but wondered how you Mum's and Dad's are all coping?
That’s a really interesting point Sue - I’d not thought of that! When I was little I used to have checkups every 6 months or so, and was able to have bloods done with finger prick tests at home which we posted off. I guess blood pressure could be done at home, but you’re right, any other scans (bone age?) would be impossible!
It would be interesting to know how the hospitals are looking after children long term...!
